Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara said Deion Nance allegedly drove up to a Taco Bell drive-thru on Broad Street at around 2:40 pm. and demanded cash from the restaurant worker at gunpoint.

The victim complied, handing over $176 before the suspect drove off, heading east on Clay Street from Broad Street.

He was arrested at Route 280 after officers observed a vehicle fitting the description used in the robbery.

"I am thankful that our officers quickly observed the suspect’s vehicle, which had been reported carjacked at gunpoint in Harrison, and acted bravely to apprehend an armed robber before he could do any more serious harm," O’Hara said in a statement.

Nance now faces charges of robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
