BETHPAGE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A man was found fatally shot outside of a Long Island hotel on Wednesday night in what Nassau County Police officials called a “targeted” murder.

Officers responded to the Extended Stay Hotel, located at 905 South Oyster Bay Rd. in Bethpage, at 9:41 p.m. and discovered the victim lying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds.

His injuries were such that he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The man was in his 30s, and his identity has not yet been released.

“It’s absolutely targeted. It’s not a random event,” Detective Captain Stephen Fitzpatrick told 1010 WINS. “It’s not a threat to the community where somebody’s robbing people on the street, nothing like that.”

Fitzpatrick said that the shooting did not appear to be drug or gang related, and that whether or not the victim lived at the hotel was still under investigation.

“Some aspects inside the hotel where we think there were people involved that were staying here,” Fitzpatrick said.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
