OCEAN COUNTY, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Officials charged a 54-year-old man after a 78-year-old man was killed during a fight at a New Jersey diner, officials said Thursday.
Police in Ocean County's Lacey Township were called to Lakeside Diner around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday about an unresponsive.
Responding officers discovered Robert Clarke, unconscious and bleeding from a head injury.
Clarke was airlifted to an area hospital, where he later died.
Edward Chandler was charged with aggravated assault, officials said.
According to prosecutors, an argument ensued between members of a motorcycle club inside the diner.
The diner owner asked everyone involved in the altercation to leave and a second argument broke spilled out in the parking lot, prosecutors added.
During that confrontation, Edward Chandler allegedly punched Clarke in the head with a closed fist, causing Clark to fall to the ground.
Clarke suffered head trauma during the fall.
According to Ocean County prosecutors, they are awaiting autopsy results from the medical examiner's office and "fully" expect additional charges to be filed based on those findings.
An investigation remains ongoing.
