OYSTER BAY, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Police said an 85-year-old man died after his car crashed into the waters of a Long Island marina Thursday afternoon.
The driver was traveling through the parking lot of the Theodore Roosevelt Marina in Oyster Bay at 5 Bay Avenue, when the vehicle struck a fence and rolled into the water after 3 p.m, Nassau County Police said.
Authorities said bay constables and responding officers rescued the victim from the water.
He was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead at 4:47 p.m.
Police said the investigation is ongoing. It remains unclear what caused the fatal incident to occur.
