
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A Long Island man was arrested Tuesday after shoving a security guard while trying to steal merchandise from a Target, according to Nassau County police.
The incident happened at 5:37 p.m. in North Lawrence, according to police.
Jose Angel Rodriguez, 43, hid items under his shirt and in his pants before attempting to leave the store without paying, according to police. When loss prevention officers confronted him, he allegedly shoved a security guard and ran.
Officers later found Rodriguez nearby and arrested him without further incident. No injuries were reported.

Some of the recovered merchandise was damaged and could not be resold, police said.
Rodriguez was charged with robbery, petit larceny, obstructing governmental administration, and tampering with physical evidence.
