NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Bronx man accused of making threats and impersonating an NYPD officer during robberies across Manhattan was arrested Tuesday, police said.
Anthony Gonzalez, 57, is facing charges including grand larceny, criminal impersonation, criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal possession of stolen property, according to the NYPD.
Gonzalez allegedly engaged in a verbal dispute with an employee inside Radio City Apartments, located at 142 West 49 Street in the Theater District at approximately 1:20 p.m., on July 20, 2020 and displayed a shield, firearm, and threatened the employee with being investigated by law enforcement, officials said.
Authorities allege he portrayed himself as a law enforcement officer in Queens and in the Bronx in order to assist victims with various issues and then coerced them to pay him for services that were never rendered.
He is also accused of taking two pairs of sneakers from a 60 year-old man, his computer, 15 bottles of cologne, and clothing in April, the individual removed the 60 year-old male victim's computer, two pairs of sneakers, 15 bottles of cologne, and clothing.
Gonzalez also took$3,969 from a 45-year-old victim in May after posing as a detective and stating that he rendered law services on his behalf.
An investigation remains ongoing.
