MELVILLE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A Bronx man died after he suffered an apparent medical episode and crashed his van on Long Island Wednesday, Suffolk County police said.

James Dawson, 52, was driving westbound on the Long Island Expressway, just west of exit 49, in Melville when his Ford E350 van struck the center median around 4:40 p.m.
He was transported to Plainview Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives believe Dawson suffered a medical event prior to the crash.
