LISBON, Conn. (1010 WINS) – A Connecticut man faces assault and other charges a year after he allegedly rear-ended a pregnant woman’s car and her baby boy later died, state police said Friday.
Eric Leblanc, 25, was charged with assault and reckless endangerment in the first degree, as well as traffic violations, in connection with the February 2024 crash in Killingly.
Leblanc was arrested around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday after state police responded to a crash in Lisbon.
According to police, troopers learned Leblanc had an active arrest warrant in connection with the crash from a year prior.
In that crash, Leblanc allegedly rear-ended another vehicle that was driven by a pregnant woman on the morning of Feb. 26, 2024.
According to an affidavit in the arrest warrant, the force of the crash caused the woman's vehicle to careen into a tree.
The woman suffered injuries in the crash that required an emergency C-section delivery of her baby, police said.
The baby, named Luca, suffered brain bleeds and was too small to perform surgery on, according to the arrest warrant.
He was taken off life support two days later on Feb. 28, 2024.
