NEW YORK (1010 WINS/ WCBS 880 NEWS) – A Delaware man is facing charges for allegedly traveling to New Jersey to sexually abuse an 11-year-old girl and for allegedly taking her back to his home after meeting the victim online, prosecutors announced on Tuesday.
An investigation was opened after the Wayne Township New Jersey Police Department received a report of a missing 11-year-old girl on Sept. 10, 2023, according to the indictment.
Police identified Darius Matylewich, 27, as the kidnapper who allegedly took the victim from a New Jersey home to his home in Bear, Delaware.
Police found the girl and arrested Matylewich.
An investigation revealed that Matylewich allegedly had met the victim online and communicated with her over Roblox, an online video game, and social media platforms, Discord, TikTok, and Snapchat.
According to the indictment, a forensic analysis of Matylewich's cellphone and social media revealed messages where he allegedly coerced the girl into performing sexual acts and creating child pornography for him.
Additionally, investigators found messages where Matylewich detailed secretly watching and following the girl near a home in New Jersey.
Matylewich allegedly used an app on his iPhone to record conversations, videos, and images of the victim performing sexual acts that Matylewich received from her through Snapchat.
Matylewich allegedly stored hundreds of videos and images of the victim in a "hidden" folder in his Apple Photos app, accessible only through Apple's FaceID facial recognition feature.
He is now being charged with coercion and enticement of a minor and production of child pornography.
If convicted, he faces a minimum of 15 years in prison and up to a maximum period of life imprisonment.
