ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A homeless man hiding in a garbage can tried to kidnap a woman outside her Long Island workplace this week, Nassau County police said Friday.

The 48-year-old victim had just arrived for work in Rockville Centre at 6 a.m. Wednesday—but unbeknownst to her a man was "discreetly hiding" in a garbage can near the entrance of the unnamed business, police said.

He emerged from the trash can, grabbed her and attempted to walk her towards his vehicle, but she was able to break free and ran off to call police, according to cops.

The suspect, identified as Isaac Diaz Tollinchi, 56, fled the scene but was later located by officers near the victim's home, police said.

He was arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment.

No injuries were reported.

Police didn't say if the victim and suspect are known to each other in any way.
