NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A Jersey City man was arrested after he allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted a 14-year-old boy who he barricaded in his apartment, prosecutors said.

Robert Harper, 54, was arrested at his home on Union Street on Friday evening, two days after Hudson County prosecutors allege he sexually assaulted the teen.

The attack happened Wednesday after the boy met Harper at Berry Lane Park, according to prosecutors, who said Harper invited the teen back to his apartment.

While the victim voluntarily entered the apartment, he was later barricaded inside the home by Harper, who sexually assaulted him, according to prosecutors.

The boy managed to escape the apartment and immediately reported the incident to police, prosecutors said.

Harper was charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree aggravated sexual assault, two counts of second-degree sexual assault, third-degree aggravated sexual contact and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

His detention hearing is set for next Wednesday.
