
BELLEVILLE, NJ (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was killed and a four-year-old boy was injured in a shooting outside an Essex County apartment building Saturday, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Police responded to reports of a shooting on the 100 block of Mill Street in Belleville at 2 p.m. on Saturday, prosecutors said.
Responding officers found Francis Medina, 37, of Belleville, with multiple gunshot wounds.
EMS transported Medina to Clara Maass Medical Center, but he could not be saved. Medina was pronounced dead at 3:17 p.m., officials said.
A four-year-old boy was injured in the shooting and was taken to an area hospital in stable condition, prosecutors said.
The nature of the boy’s injuries were unclear.
No arrests have been made and the investigation, conducted by Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, is ongoing.
