NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man shot his ex-girlfriend and then himself in his New Jersey home on Monday, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.

At around 6 p.m., Vineland Police Department responded to reports of shots fired at a residence on Roosevelt Blvd. in Vineland.

Upon arrival, officers found a 21-year-old woman (M.R.) and a 22-year-old man (J.C.S.) suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both were taken to Cooper University Hospital with a helicopter and later pronounced dead.

An initial investigation found that the woman was shot by the man and then the man shot himself. The two were not married but previously were in a relationship, prosecutors said.

The names of the victims were withheld due to the privacy prohibitions on releasing information related to domestic violence matters.

An investigation is ongoing.
