COMMACK, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was arrested Tuesday after he shot pepper spray into the air at a Long Island Marshalls store, Suffolk County police said.

Carl Goode, 57, walked into the discount clothing store on Henry Street in Commack around 6:40 p.m. and sprayed the noxious substance into the air, according to police.

Goode, of Bay Shore, was arrested about 15 minutes later. There was no indication from police that he was under any threat when the pepper spray was discharged.

Nine people were evaluated at the scene, with one of them taken to Huntington Hospital. A 10th person called 911 from home and was transported to South Shore University Hospital.

The two hospitalized victims were treated and released, police said.

Goode was charged with unlawfully possessing noxious material and second-degree criminal nuisance. He also had an active warrant and was held overnight ahead of a Wednesday arraignment, according to police.
