Man shoots twin sister to death in New Jersey: prosecutors

TEANECK, N.J. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A New York City man fatally shot his twin sister at a home in New Jersey on Thursday before he was apprehended by police, Bergen County prosecutors said.

Jonathan Hagley, 26, was charged with first-degree murder, as well as weapons possession and obstructing justice in the fatal shooting in Teaneck.

Hagley allegedly shot his twin sister, Naomi Hagley, 26, at a home on Hickory Street around 8:25 a.m. She was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at a hospital.

Jonathan Hagley fled the scene of the shooting but was arrested several blocks away by officers from the Bogota Police Department, prosecutors said. He was taken to Bergen County Jail in Hackensack.

A handgun with a defaced serial number was allegedly recovered near the crime scene.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting weren’t immediately released by authorities.

Several agencies are investigating, including the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and the Teaneck and Bogota police departments.
