NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man refused to pay his bill at a Franklin Square Chinese and Thai food restaurant on Saturday, prompting a customer disturbance call. He punched one of the responding officers in the face.

Saidmurodov Niyazov, of North Bellmore, slugged an officer responding to Ginger Flower Restaurant at 2 p.m. on Saturday, the Nassau Police Department said.

The officer’s injuries included substantial pain, swelling and redness, police said.

A scuffle ensued after the punch. Niyazov, 57, was violent, combative and resisted arrest. He was subdued and arrested, officials said.

The officer was treated at an area hospital, and Niyazov was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment and evaluation, the Nassau Police Department said.

The nature of Niyazov’s injuries was not disclosed, and police stated that he will be arraigned when “medically practical.”

Niyazov was charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest and theft of services.
