NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD is looking to identify a man who they said stabbed a man and pushed his wife down the stairs outside a Bronx subway station following a dispute earlier this week.
On Tuesday, April 27, at approximately 7:44 p.m., a 37-year-old man and his 33-year-old wife were on board a northbound 4 train at the Bowling Green station in manhattan when they observed the suspect acting belligerent on the train, officials said.
A verbal dispute then ensued between the man and the unknown individual.
The man and his wife exited the train at the East 170 Street and Jerome Avenue train station in the Bronx, and the suspect followed them down the stairs to the street, according to police.
The suspect then punched the man in the back of the head, displayed a knife, and began to stab him, the NYPD said.
When the victim's wife attempted to intervene to assist her husband police said the suspect pushed her down the stairs.
The suspect then fled the location on foot.
The man sustained stab wounds to his arm and right side of his torso.
His wife sustained injuries to her right leg and right side of her torso.
Both victims were transported via EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in stable condition.
The suspect is described as a man with a dark complexion, approximately 30-years-old, 5'11" tall, weighing 180 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a black Nike baseball hat, a blue face mask, a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black sneakers with a black backpack.
Police on Thursday released surveillance video of the suspect after the incident cleaning off the knife, officials said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
