NEW YORK (1010 WINS/ WCBS 880 NEWS) – A Long Island man was arrested on Wednesday for punching an officer in the face and resisting arrest, according to Nassau County Police.

Police responded to a disturbance at the Plantation Motel at 4040 Long Beach Rd. in Island Park, at around 3 a.m., where they found James Becker, 39, yelling and uncooperative.

Becker then allegedly punched one of the officers in the chin before running off to a nearby parking lot, according to cops.

Police then used an electronic taser to stop Becker from jumping over a fence and running away.

During the arrest, Becker was "violent and combative," causing injuries to two other officers who were later taken to a local hospital for a knee injury and a bite mark on the arm, according to a police report.

Becker was also evaluated and treated for injuries.

Further investigation found that Becker was involved in two domestic burglaries in Lido Beach on Jan. 9 and Jan. 5.

He is now charged with second degree assault, second degree burglary, fourth degree grand larceny, third degree criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child, first degree criminal contempt, and resisting arrest.

Becker is scheduled for arraignment on Jan. 11.
