PARSIPPANY, N.J. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A road rage clash in New Jersey this week ended with a motorist biting off the ear of another driver, state police said Wednesday.

The wild fight Monday afternoon involved two men on Interstate 287 in Parsippany.

They were stuck in traffic around 3:30 p.m. when they got into an argument that escalated into a physical fight, according to a police report obtained by the Bergen Record.

One of the drivers, a 55-year-old Bridgeport resident, brandished a hammer, got out of his vehicle and grabbed the other man, a 24-year-old from Boonton, according to the report.

During the clash, the Bridgeport man suffered a “severed left ear,” police said in the report. He told responding officers that the other man bit it off during the altercation.

The alleged biter left the scene but was eventually located at a gas station on Route 46, cops said.

The men were treated at a hospital in Denville before they were both charged with simple assault.
