NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Long Island man has been identified as the missing boater whose vessel washed up on the shore of Fire Island Sunday, authorities said.

The 52-year-old Ronkonkoma man, Todd Mauro, was last seen around 11:30 a.m. Sunday when he left the South Shore Boat Yard in Patchogue, police said.

United States Coast Guard officials were investigating after his empty boat was found on Smith Point Beach around 8:15 p.m. the same day.

Suffolk Marine Police Bureau officers are continuing their search after they suspended their efforts Monday night.
