OLD SAYBROOK, CT (1010 WINS) -- More than 70 animals were found dead inside a Connecticut home, police confirmed to 1010 WINS on Thursday.
Officers discovered the animals on River Road in Old Saybrook on Wednesday, removing chickens, a dove, cats, a skunk, and rabbits, none of which were alive.
"The Old Saybrook Police Department will ensure that a comprehensive criminal investigation into this disturbing matter will be conducted," Old Saybrook Police Chief Michael Spera said. "We have no tolerance for the mistreatment of animals and will work with the court to hold those responsible accountable."
It remains unclear how long the animals had been inside the home.
Spera also confirmed that no one was found inside the home.
