Mother, 4-month old baby killed in Connecticut drive-by shooting: police

HARTFORD, CT (1010 WINS) – A drive-by shooting in Connecticut left a mother and her baby son dead and injured another person on Tuesday, police said.

Police responded to Hartford Hospital at around 2:45 p.m. after receiving a report of a vehicle arriving with multiple victims with gunshot wounds, according to Hartford police.

Investigators determined that three people had been shot near 380 New Britain Ave. in Hartford while inside a vehicle when another vehicle pulled up beside them and opened fire.

The victims included 20-year-old Jessiah Mercado of Massachusetts, and her 4-month-old son, Messiah Diaz, who were pronounced dead at the hospital.

The third victim, a man in his 20s, is in stable condition, according to police.

The driver of the vehicle was unharmed, cops said.

An investigation is ongoing.
