TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Gov. Murphy on Wednesday urged all colleges and universities to make coronavirus testing available to all residential students before they leave for Thanksgiving break in order to slow the spread.
According to Murphy, there have been five new outbreaks linked to schools in the last week associated with 47 coronavirus cases.
There are currently 99 school districts open for in-person instruction, 529 open for hybrid learning, 145 districts doing remote learning and 38 districts using a combination of plans across buildings, Murphy said.
Murphy also reported 4,063 new positive COVID-19 cases, and the statewide rate of transmission was 1.42 percent.
There were also 27 confirmed new deaths for a total of 14,838.
He also asked residents to avoid large holiday gatherings as the indoor gathering limit set at no more than 10 people.
