NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A naked man went rogue on Long Island over the weekend, punching a woman on the street and then running into traffic and tangling with cops before his arrest, Nassau County police said Tuesday.
The wild encounter started around 10:30 p.m. Sunday when a 23-year-old woman walking down Jericho Turnpike, near South 8th Street, in New Hyde Park was confronted by the man in the buff.
He punched her in the arm with a closed fist and then bolted on foot eastbound on Jericho Turnpike, according to police.
When responding officers tried to arrest him, the nude suspect ran into oncoming traffic.
He and the officers then got into a struggle, during which he was "violent and combative" while resisting arrest, police said.

Two officers were injured in the skirmish before the suspect—identified as Varinder Singh, 29—was taken into custody.
The two injured officers were transported to a hospital to be evaluated and treated.
The woman suffered pain to her right arm and shoulder but declined medical attention at the scene.
Singh was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, one count of third-degree assault, resisting arrest and exposure of a person.
He will be arraigned when medically practical, police said.
