Man tells boy to get into van in attempted abduction on Long Island: police

RUSSELL GARDENS, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Nassau County police are investigating an attempted child abduction in Russell Gardens.

A 10-year-old boy told police that he was waiting at a bus stop on the corner of South Middle Neck Road and Melbourne Street around 8:25 a.m. Thursday when a van pulled up in front of him.


The boy said a man got out and told him to get into the van, while gesturing towards the vehicle.

The child immediately left and ran back to his home.

Police said the suspect left the scene.

The suspect is described as a light skinned male, 5'5" to 5'7" tall, with an average build and dark hair. He was wearing a short black winter jacket.

The vehicle was described as a grayish white utility van.
