NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department will announce on Wednesday the findings of its investigation into Tiger Woods' Feb. 23 car accident -- specifically what caused the golfer's SUV to roll over, strike a raised median, cross through two oncoming lanes and uproot a tree.
Excessive speeding was the cause, Sheriff Alex Villanueva is expected to announce, according to TMZ, citing law enforcement sources.
Woods' Genesis SUV was traveling 83 mph in a 45 mph zone, TMZ reported, citing the law enforcement sources
The sheriff "will discuss the findings of the recent traffic collision involving Mr. Tiger Woods, to include the causal factors and collision report" during a 10 a.m. PT news conference in Los Angeles, the sheriff's department said in a statement.
Sheriff Villanueva said last week the cause of the crash -- which left 45-year-old Woods with severe leg injuries -- was determined, but he was refraining from revealing it because of Woods' privacy.
Woods waives his right of privacy, though, and authorized the realized of the accident report to the public, TMZ reported.
Woods, who is now recovering at home after weeks in the hospital, is not facing charges, according to TMZ.
