NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Gov. Andrew Cuomo and other governors sent a letter to President Donald Trump on Thursday requesting a meeting to talk about how states can work with the federal government to make sure a national COVID vaccination campaign is "implemented smoothly and efficiently."
The letter was sent from the National Governors Association, which Cuomo chairs, to the president. Cuomo then published the letter in a press release titled, "Mr. President, Where Do We Go From Here With COVID?"
"States have been at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19, working tirelessly to protect and care for our residents during this global pandemic," the letter begins.

It goes on to say that governors are willing to help the Trump administration on a national COVID vaccine distribution and implementation plan but that "additional guidance and clarification is needed on the roles and expectations of states."
Cuomo and Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, who is the vice chair of the association, write that they'd like a meeting to talk about a number of issues, including: "the delineation of federal and state responsibilities; the funding needs associated with those responsibilities; and the planned supply chain management and vaccine allocation process."
Neither the president nor the White House have commented on the letter as of Thursday afternoon.
