NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Federal officials are expected to change course on booster shots, and approve them for fully vaccinated adults at least six months after the second dose -- as opposed to the previously-announced eight months, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday afternoon, citing a person familiar with the plans.

The White House declined to comment.

The anticipated decision comes after data from vaccine makers and other countries was reviewed by the Food and Drug Administration of those who took boosters after six months.

Approval for boosters after six months for those who received all three U.S.-approved vaccines -- Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and Moderna -- is expected in mid-September, according to the report.
