CHICAGO (1010 WINS) -- Actor Jussie Smollett was sentenced to 150 days in county jail and ordered to pay $120,000 in restitution for lying to police.

The "Empire" actor declared his innocence in court after being sentenced to jail and was immediately taken into custody. He left the court room with his fist raised.
Smollett's lawyers plan to appeal the decision and requested the judge temporarily stay his sentence while the appeal is processed, but the judge denied their request.
The actor was found guilty of five of six counts of disorderly conduct for lying to police officers that he was the victim of a racist and homophobic hate crime.
In January of 2019, he claimed two men followed him late at night, yelled slurs at him, dumped unknown chemicals on him and then tied a noose around his neck.
The jury found Smollett had solicited his brothers to stage the attack and then lied to police.
