VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. (1010 WINS) -- A suspect is in police custody after a shooter killed one person and injured two others at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Vestavia Hills, Alabama on Thursday, according to officials.

There was a “Boomers Potluck” scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, according to the church’s website.

Police received reports of the shooting around 6:22 p.m.

Authorities assured the public at a press conference Thursday night that there is no further threat to the community, but did not release any information on what the shooter's motive was.
