Report: US Activates National Guard In 28 States, Pennsylvania Among Them

PITTSBURGH, PA (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The U.S. has reportedly activated 3,300 National Guard soldiers after all 50 states issued an emergency declaration because of COVID-19.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, the U.S. military is increasing its role as the coronavirus continues to spread and lockdowns are becoming commonplace. The website also says that the National Guard has been deployed to 28 states, Pennsylvania being one.

General Joseph Lengyel, Chief of the National Guard, took to Twitter to refute rumors of a pending national lockdown stating, "I hear unfounded rumors about #NationalGuard troops supporting a nationwide quarantine. Let me be clear: There has been no such discussion."

FEMA set up a rumor control page as it relates to Coronavirus to help debunk misinformation. 

In the midst of the military move, 10,000 hotel and dorm rooms are being repurposed into medical care units by US Army Corps of Engineers.
