When shopping for most items, Americans seems to trust one retailer over others. We’ll give you some hints – there are greeters there, you can get everything from cooking supplies to makeup and clothes to tires and it starts with a “w.”

If you guessed Walmart, then you were correct. With more than 10,000 stories across the world, the big-box store was ranked in the top spot in 15 out of 22 categories – including beauty supplies, fresh meat, fresh produce and fresh prepared meals – according to the “America’s Most Trusted Grocery Retailers” list from Newsweek and BrandSpark.

H-E-B and Whole Foods managed to snag a few of the top categories. For example, H-E=B beat out Walmart for most enjoyable store experience and Whole Foods dominated the gourmet foods category.

Walmart’s first store opened in Kansas in 1962. Since then, it has become a dominant retailer in the country, promising low prices for a wide range of consumer goods.

Last November, the company announced that it would move the listing of its common stock from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) to the Nasdaq. The Nasdaq operates electronically rather than on a physical trading floor and is associated with tech and growth companies, while the NYSE is associated with established firms.

“Moving to Nasdaq aligns with the people-led, tech-powered approach to our long-term strategy,” said John David Rainey, chief financial officer of Walmart, Inc., in a statement at the time. “Walmart is setting a new standard for omnichannel retail by integrating automation and AI to build smarter, faster and more connected experiences for customers, while enabling our associates to deliver even greater value at scale.”

Even after the announced tech-powered pivot, Walmart has still prioritized in-store experiences. Just this year, it announced a plan to train in-store beauty experts to help customers.
