NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- President Trump's niece Mary Trump, who wrote the legally contentious tell-all "Too Much and Never Enough," said Monday night that her uncle's return to the White House from Walter Reed Medical Center was a "stunt ... to convince the American people that he is strong."
Mary Trump, 55, told Don Lemon on "CNN Tonight" that her uncle's return to the White House was "totally in keeping with what I understand the kind of person he is. In some respects, it's as if he doesn't exactly have a choice. This is entirely my grandfather's doing. Because in my family, you are not allowed to display weakness. And being sick was considered weakness."
Trump, a psychologist, continued, "By the the same token, he prescribed to the doctrine of positive thinking. So you could never admit that anything was wrong. So it makes perfect sense to me that Donald, no matter how sick he may or may not be, would pull this kind of stunt -- and in a display of extraordinary weakness in my view -- attempt to convince the American people that he is strong."
When asked by Lemon if she believes the president can "positive think" his way out of his diagnosis, Mary Trump said he "absolutely believes he can. That's why he's no longer at Walter Reed. But lets be clear: He went from one world-class facility to another ... So let's not pretend he's just going home."
