TRENTON (1010 WINS) -- New Jersey reported a record number of new coronavirus cases on Sunday, surpassing two previous highs seen late last week.
The state reported 6,046 new cases, surpassing Friday's record-high of 5,673 cases and Thursday's previous high of 4,913 cases.
"These numbers speak for themselves," Gov. Phil Murphy warned on Twitter. "Mask up. Social distance. Wash your hands. Avoid gatherings."
The seven-day average for cases is up to 4,887 as of Sunday, an increase of 20% from last weekend and 161% from a month ago, according to NJ.com.
The largest share of new cases were in Bergen County, which reported 552. Hudson County recorded 533 cases and Essex County saw 520.
The state also reported 16 more deaths, bringing the state's death toll to 15,485, not including 1,836 probable deaths.
The number of deaths reported in the first six days of December has reached 327, more than half of the 615 deaths recorded in all of November.
Hospitalizations Saturday night decreased slightly from Friday night to 3,241 patients statewide. Of those hospitalized, 622 patients were in intensive care and 396 were on ventilators.
