NJ child got prescription pill mixed with Halloween candy

SAYREVILLE, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A child received a prescription pill mixed in with candy while trick-or-treating in New Jersey on Halloween, police said.

According to Sayreville Police, a clonazepam pill was found mixed in with various pieces of candy inside a ziplock bag with candy corns printed on it.

Clonazepam is a sedative used to treat seizures and anxiety disorders.

Officials believed the child received the bag of candy near White Oaks Drive within the Park Village townhouses in Sayreville.

Authorities haven't yet determined if the pill was intentionally placed in the bag or accidentally ended up there.

Police are asking anyone who received a similar bag while trick-or-treating or to call Detective Mike Pascone at 732-525-5420.
