TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) — Gov. Phil Murphy, 65, plans to undergo a minor surgery on Wednesday.
The governor's office did not specify what the procedure is, but said it’s not related to the cancerous tumor he had removed from his kidney in 2020.
“Governor Murphy is in good health, and now is the best time to address this minor medical procedure,” a spokesperson for Murphy told NJ.com.
Murphy will be under anesthesia for a few hours during the procedure, and Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver will serve as acting governor while he’s out.
The procedure is medical as opposed to cosmetic, according to Murphy, and he doesn’t anticipate staying at the hospital overnight.
