TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- The head of New Jersey’s health department is quarantining for the second time in as many months after another staffer tested positive for COVID-19, her office said Thursday.
An employee who works in Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli’s office tested positive for the virus Wednesday night, Department of Health Communications Director Donna Leusner said in a statement.
Persichilli, 71, and other in-office staffers are now working from home and quarantining “out of an abundance of caution and in line with the Department’s guidance,” Leusner said.
“Anyone who may have come into contact with our colleague during the potential infection window will quarantine,” she said. “The Office of the Commissioner will be cleaned today according to CDC recommendations.”
Persichilli will resume in-person appearances after she completes her quarantine, Leusner noted.
The commissioner previously self-quarantined at the end of November after another staffer in her office tested positive for COVID-19.
