JERSEY CITY, N.J. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Authorities arrested a New Jersey high school teacher accused of making inappropriate contact with a student last month, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced on Monday.
Members of the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit arrested University Academy Charter High School teacher Steven Gordon, 67, on Friday after making inappropriate contact with a juvenile student on Wednesday, May 29, during school hours, prosecutors said.
Gordon was charged with criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child.
He was arrested on Friday and released pending his first court appearance, which is tentatively scheduled for Friday, July 5.
Gordon resigned from his position following the investigation.
