NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A New Jersey man was charged with bias intimidation after allegedly yelling racial slurs and slashing the tires of other customers at a 7-11 store on Wednesday, prosecutors said.

Ryan McDonald, a 33-year-old resident of Brick Township, was arrested and charged for yelling racial slurs at customers and slashing their tires, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

Officers from the Brick Township Police Department responded to a call around 2 p.m. reporting an agitated man who was yelling at other customers at the 7-11 store located on Mantoloking Road.

After yelling racial slurs at the customers, McDonald allegedly retrieved a knife from his car and punctured the tire of another customer's vehicle, prosecutors said.

He then allegedly  targeted a second customer's car, which had an elderly woman and a child inside. While yelling racial slurs, he used the knife to puncture two of its tires, according to prosecutors.

McDonald fled the scene but was found in the surrounding area on the same day.

He was arrested without incident and transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he awaits a detention hearing.

McDonald faces charges of three counts of bias intimidation, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and two counts of criminal mischief.
