NJ man arrested after allegedly making bomb, shooting threats on social media directed at govt buildings, judges

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/ WCBS 880 NEWS) – A New Jersey man was arrested and charged for making terroristic threats and for cyber-harassment, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Tuesday.

Following an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit,  Brandon M. Hernandez, 28, of Paterson, was arrested on Jan. 11.

Investigators found a pattern of social media posts threatening to shoot and bomb government buildings and judges in November, 2023, according to the indictment, and identified Hernandez as the person allegedly responsible for the posts.

He now faces third-degree terroristic threats and fourth-degree cyber harassment charges.

According to NJ.com, Hernandez previously pleaded guilty to fourth-degree cyber harassment and threats of violence in 2021 in Bergen County. He was sentenced to three years of probation in May 2021.

Hernandez was taken to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
