NJ man arrested after allegedly kidnapping woman at knifepoint in Aldi parking lot: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was arrested after he allegedly kidnapped a woman after an argument in a grocery store parking lot and then left her unconscious at a different location, according to police.

The Toms River Police Department received a report about a disturbance involving two customers arguing in the parking lot of a Toms River Aldi located on Route 70 at around 7 p.m.

By the time police arrived at the scene, the people involved had already left.

Police then received a  report that the woman involved in the argument had been kidnapped at knifepoint by a man who then assaulted her and left her unconscious at a different location.

The victim was taken to a local hospital to receive medical treatment for her injuries, police said.

Police  identified the suspect as Luis Morenogutierrez and arrested him.

He was taken to Toms River Police Headquarters.

Morenogutierrez now faces charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes.

An investigation is ongoing.
