SECAUCUS, N.J. (1010 WINS) — New Jersey officials on Sunday arrested and charged a man accused of kidnapping and beating his girlfriend after a Giants game, authorities said.

The incident began with a dispute between the couple in the parking lot at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, Lyndhurst police Lt. Vince Auteri said.

According to police, 25-year-old Iran Iznaga Garabito, 25, of Secaucus, left the stadium at about 7:30 p.m. with his 27-year-old girlfriend and drove to an apartment complex on Orient Way in Lyndhurst.

Police were called at the apartment complex after a passerby witnessed Iznaga Garabito allegedly shoving the woman into a Chevy wagon.

He then drove her around for almost an hour with the child safety locks on before she escaped, Auteri said.

Iznaga Garabito then chased her on foot through the grass median and halfway across Route 46 before in Ridgefield Park where a Port Authority police officer showed up to the scene, Auteri added.

Backup officers later found the vehicle abandoned at the ramp to Teaneck road and Challenger Boulevard.

Iznaga Garabito and the victim were taken to Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, where both were treated for undisclosed injuries.

He was charged with kidnapping, criminal restraint, and aggravated assault on a domestic violence victim and was released from the hospital Monday morning and taken to the Bergen County Jail, where he was held pending a court hearing, officials said.
