TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey man was shot and killed during a robbery attempt as he was arriving home from work on Monday, prosecutors said.

Fred Davis, 43, had just driven home from work and parked his car in front of his home on West Hanover Street in Trenton just before 9 p.m. when two males of unknown ages approached him and tried to rob him, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said.

At some point during the robbery attempt, Davis was shot, the prosecutor's office said.

He was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to the prosecutor's office.

No one had been arrested in connection with Davis' death as of Tuesday. An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Detective Marc Masseroni of the Mercer County Homicide Task Force at 609-989-6406 or email mchtftips@mercercounty.org.
