SOMERSET COUNTY, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey man who shot his former tenant when he went to get his old belongings was sentenced to 50 years in prison Friday, authorities said.

The Bound Brook man, Ryan D. Keogh, was previously found guilty in April of murder, weapons offenses and other charges, officals said.

According to court documents, on Jan.9, 2019, officers went to a home on Farm Lane in Bound Brook around 7:36 p.m. after a report came in of shots fired.

Responding officers found the 29-year-old Old Bridge man Terrence C. Coulanges outside of the house with gunshot wounds to his right thigh and left chest. Emergency workers transported him to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators interviewed neighbors who reported hearing what turned out to be gunshots at 5:45 p.m. Keogh called his mother when he shot Coulanges and later left the scene with her. Keogh's mother later called 9-1-1 at 7:36 p.m., nearly two hours after the shooting.

Keogh was arrested on Feb. 14, 2019. His parents, Cindy and David Keogh, were also charged with allegedly attempting to cover up their son's crime. They previously pleaded not guilty to making false statements to police, hindering apprehension and endangering an injured victim.
