
EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey man walked into the East Brunswick Police Department on Friday afternoon and confessed to murdering his wife, the department announced.
Ashraf Tawfik, 60, entered the station house at 12:14 p.m. and reported to officers that he killed his wife, police said.
Authorities then responded to his residence on Yorktown Road and found Marsail Botros, 58, unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tawfik was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and two weapons charges. He is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center pending the results of a pre-trial detention hearing, officials said.
The investigation is ongoing.
