MEDFORD, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey man who told police his wife was “taking a nap” at their home two years ago was convicted of her murder, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office announced Monday.

Babu Natarajan, 43, was convicted last week of first-degree murder in the March 21, 2023 killing at the couple’s shared home in Medford.

Prosecutors said that on that afternoon, officers with the Medford Township Police Department responded to the home after Natarajan called 911 reporting his wife as unconscious and unresponsive.

Responding officers found the body of Angammal Babu, 41, in the upstairs master bedroom, and Natarajan told them that she was tired and taking a nap.

An autopsy performed by the Burlington County Medical Examiner determined that she died of compression to the neck.

Natarajan’s sentencing was scheduled for May 23.
