NJ officers shoot man found stabbing woman while responding to disturbance at Hampton Inn

OLD BRIDGE, N.J. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Officers with the Old Bridge Police Department shot a man early Sunday morning who, when police responded to a report of a disturbance, was discovered stabbing a female victim, prosecutors said.

At about 2:57 a.m., the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit received a report of an officer-involved shooting in Old Bridge, New Jersey,

Members of the Old Bridge Police Department responded to the Hampton Inn located at 300 Spring Valley Road, and upon arrival, found a male suspect stabbing a female victim.

An initial investigation showed that in response to this discovery, officers shot at and struck the assailant.

The suspect is currently being treated at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and the extent of his injuries was not immediately clear.

Information regarding the officers involved in the shooting was not immediately available, nor was the condition of the female victim.

An investigation into the shooting is currently underway, prosecutors said.
