The 58-year-old Philadelphia woman, April Taylor, worked for the Princeton school district where she used forged purchase orders to buy items like electronic devices and custom interior doors, officials said.
Taylor was using funds from state security and technology money designated for the district on the goods. Her scheme began to unravel after an administrator found out she sold a MacBook computer she bought with a forged purchase order on eBay, authorities said.
After a forensic audit, it was determined that Taylor stole at least $95,640.04 worth of property and devices were recovered in Colorado, South Carolina, Pittsburgh and Cherry Hill.
Taylor had been employed by the school district since 2000 but was suspended in 2021. She resigned soon after.
Authorities charged her with two counts of official misconduct, pattern of official misconduct, theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking, impersonation and two counts of financial facilitation of criminal activity.
