TOMS RIVER, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A Toms River middle school history teacher faces child endangerment charges for running a pornographic Twitter account and sending inappropriate Snapchat messages to a student, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Kyle Banner, a 48-year-old eighth grade teacher at Toms River Intermediate North, would often post images taken inside his classroom, officials said.

He allegedly requested a student’s Snapchat account in October, over which he sent lewd pictures of himself.

He was suspended from his job without pay pending the trial.

NJ.com reported he had invited students to follow him on social media at the start of the school year, citing “documents filed in support of child endangerment and official misconduct charges,” but did not specify which account.

Patch reported he ran a TikTok account where he posted about classwork and educational topics. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office did say students had viewed the images on his Twitter account, but, given that the pornographic account wasn’t reported until last week, it seems unlikely Banner invited all of his students to follow the account in September.

Banner faces three child endangerment charges and official misconduct offense for the incident.
