The New York Post reports the 15-year-old boys allegedly attempted to steal a deliveryman’s Honda Civic with manual transmission in Pleasantville.

Pleasantville Police Lt. Stacey Schlachter said two of the boys were unable to figure out how to get the car into the correct gear as it was left running as he made a delivery — with neither able to drive a stick shift.

"They didn’t know how to drive it," Schlachter said Wednesday. "That’s the reason why they got caught so quickly."

Police said the two teens then started to assault the deliveryman when he returned to his car. The third boy joined, punching and kicking him to the ground.

The group was nabbed and taken into custody at an Atlantic County juvenile detention center.

They face charges of conspiracy to commit carjacking, aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.
